Who we are:

A group of concerned citizens trying to preserve a uniquehabitat and local recreational site -- the Madrone Wall.

For years the old Hardscrabble RockQuarry 2.2 miles east of Carver on Highway 224, known among climbers asMadrone Wall, has served as a year-round climbing location for the localPortland area. Now it seems destined to wind up as a quarry and the uniquerockfaces as gravel in Clackamas County's potholes.

The Madrone Wall Preservation Committeehas incorporated as an Oregon non-profit corporation with two straightforwardgoals: stop proposed rock quarrying at the site and restore climbing andrecreational access to this amazing civic treasure.  We have beenactively working on behalf of the local rock climbing and hiking communitysince the fall of 1997,  shortly after Clackamas County closed thisamazing civic treasure.  If you have an interest in helping us withthis cause, please do not hesitate to contact us.
